Non-parametric inference of impurity transport coefficients in the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak

T. Nishizawa et al.

Summary: This study presents a non-parametric inference method for determining impurity transport coefficients and applies it to measure these coefficients in a specific plasma. The results show the existence of large diffusion coefficients and strong outward convection in the plasma pedestal area.

Turbulent energy transfer into zonal flows from the weak to the strong flow shear regime in the stellarator TJ-K

T. Ullmann et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of background shearing rate on energy transfer between turbulence and zonal flows in different shear regimes, using the k - epsilon model. Linear dependency of Reynolds stress and quadratic dependency of energy transfer on shearing rate are found, along with a redistribution of spectral power towards zonal flow. The increase in relative zonal power is even higher beyond the transition to the strong shear regime.

Modeling the Multiwavelength Variability of Mrk 335 Using Gaussian Processes

Ryan-Rhys Griffiths et al.

Summary: Gaussian process regression is used to interpolate gaps in the lightcurves of the narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy Mrk 335, with Matern 1/2 and rational quadratic kernels yielding the most well-specified models for the X-ray and UVW2 bands. Analysis of structure functions reveals broken power laws in the UVW2 band and broken power laws or power laws in the X-ray band depending on the kernel used. Cross-correlation analysis shows tentative evidence for a broad X-ray-UV lag feature of up to 30 days, depending on the Gaussian process kernel.
