Screening of Phosphate Solubilization Identifies Six Pseudomonas Species with Contrasting Phytostimulation Properties in Arabidopsis Seedlings

Jose Lopez-Hernandez et al.

Summary: The interaction between plants and bacteria plays a crucial role in their adaptation to challenging environments, involving nutrient solubilization, root restructuring, and modulation of hormonal responses. This study isolated and characterized bacteria strains with high capability in solubilizing calcium phosphate, identifying their varying effects on the growth of Arabidopsis seedlings. Among the strains, Pseudomonas brassicae showed the most significant promotion of plant growth.

Pathogenesis in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 Biofilm-Associated Is Dependent on the Pyoverdine and Pyocyanin Siderophores by Quorum Sensing Modulation

Sharel Pamela Diaz-Perez et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of pvd genes on bacterial pathogenesis in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The results showed that mutations in pvdL and pvdI increased the production of virulence factors, biofilm formation, and altered biofilm structure. Mutations in pvdI, pvdJ, and pvdL also enhanced the survival of nematodes exposed to bacterial cultures. These findings demonstrate the contribution of siderophores to the establishment and pathogenicity of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Micrococcus luteus LS570 promotes root branching in Arabidopsis via decreasing apical dominance of the primary root and an enhanced auxin response

Elizabeth Garcia-Cardenas et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the bacterium Micrococcus luteus LS570 acts as a plant growth promoter by inhibiting primary root elongation and promoting root branching and root hair formation. It was found that ARF7, ARF19, and canonical auxin receptors play critical roles in mediating the response of both the primary root and lateral roots to M. luteus LS570. This research sheds light on how actinobacteria interact with plants and provides evidence of Micrococcus genus influencing plant programs responsible for biomass partitioning.

Bacterial cyclodipeptides elicit Arabidopsis thaliana immune responses reducing the pathogenic effects of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 strains on plant development

Cristhian Said Solis-Ortiz et al.

Summary: Plants are exposed to various stress factors, and the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 induces plant death through the production of virulence factors and promotes plant growth through auxin-like activity. Plant defense mechanisms are regulated by phytohormones, such as SA and JA, which activate defense genes. This study showed that bacterial CDPs can trigger immune responses in Arabidopsis, reducing plant infection by pathogenic strains.

Nitrogen availability determines plant growth promotion and the induction of root branching by the probiotic fungus Trichoderma atroviride in Arabidopsis seedlings

Jose Lopez-Bucio et al.

Summary: Plant growth-promoting fungi help plants resist stress and improve nutrient absorption. This study investigated the interaction between Trichoderma atroviride and Arabidopsis seedlings and found that the growth promotion and root formation triggered by the fungus required high nitrate supplements. Additionally, nitric oxide may serve as a second messenger in the growth promotion process.

Growth promotion in Arabidopsis thaliana by bacterial cyclodipeptides involves the TOR/S6K pathway activation

Omar Gonzalez-Lopez et al.

Summary: CDPs are the smallest peptides produced by various organisms and have multiple biological effects. The CDPs produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 can influence TOR signaling pathways and root system architecture, promoting growth and root branching through phosphorylation of 56 ribosomal protein kinase. This study also suggests a critical role of TOR signaling pathway in bacterial phytostimulation in Arabidopsis.

Enhanced NRT1.1/NPF6.3 expression in shoots improves growth under nitrogen deficiency stress in Arabidopsis

Yasuhito Sakuraba et al.

Summary: The study identified an association between polymorphisms in the promoter of the NRT1.1/NPF6.3 gene and varying degrees of nitrogen deficiency responses in Arabidopsis shoots. Enhanced expression of NRT1.1 in shoots, rather than roots, was found to be responsible for improved growth under nitrogen deficient conditions.

N-Acyl Homoserine Lactone-Mediated Quorum Sensing Regulates Species Interactions in Multispecies Biofilm Communities

Sujatha Subramoni et al.

Summary: The study utilized a mixed-species biofilm community, revealing that Pseudomonas aeruginosa, despite its low abundance, plays a critical role in the community's function, and that it affects interspecific interactions by modulating biofilm structure and physiology.
