S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine extends lifespan through methionine restriction effects

Takafumi Ogawa et al.

Summary: Methionine restriction can extend lifespan and delay aging-associated pathologies. Supplementation with S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine (SAH) can mimic the effects of methionine restriction by reducing methionine levels and activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), thereby extending lifespan.

Species diversity, phylogeny, endemism and geography of the truffle genus Tuber in China based on morphological and molecular data

L. Fan et al.

Summary: This study conducted a comprehensive species identification and phylogenetic analysis of the Tuber genus in China. It identified 82 phylogenetic species, including 25 new species. The distribution of Tuber species in China shows high endemism, with most species being only found in China and only a few being shared with other continents. The findings of this study are important for understanding the diversity, phylogenetic relationships, and geographic distribution of Tuber species in China.

Geographical-based variations in white truffle Tuber magnatum aroma is explained by quantitative differences in key volatile compounds

Jun Niimi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the aroma, sensory profiles, maturity, and bacterial communities of T. magnatum from Italy, Croatia, Hungary, and Serbia. The results showed that while main odor active compounds were present in all truffles, their concentrations varied. The aroma of truffle extracts were discriminable by sites, with volatile profiles varying more within sites than across geographic area, suggesting that specificities of the aroma of T. magnatum truffles are more likely linked to individual properties than provenance.
