The transcription factor MYB43 antagonizes with ICE1 to regulate freezing tolerance in Arabidopsis

Pengpeng Zheng et al.

Summary: Previous studies have shown the post-translational modifications and protein stability regulation of ICE1 in cold stress, but the interaction of ICE1 with other transcription factors and their role in cold stress tolerance and transition to growth are not well understood. In this study, we found that MBP43 directly binds to the promoters of CBF genes to repress their expression, negatively regulating freezing tolerance. Furthermore, PRL1 promotes MYB43 protein degradation to attenuate its repression of CBF genes and antagonism with ICE1, thereby modulating plant cold stress responses.

Summary: The APETALA2/Ethylene Responsive Factor (AP2/ERF) family, which plays important roles in reproductive development, stress responses, and hormone responses in plants, was systematically studied in Dendrobium catenatum for the first time in this study. A total of 120 AP2/ERF family members were identified and classified into four subfamilies based on phylogenetic analysis.
