Extranuclear auxin signaling: a new insight into auxin's versatility

Patricio Perez-Henriquez et al.

Summary: The phytohormone auxin plays a role in various aspects of plant life and can be found in ancient plants. The effects of auxin are mainly determined by the plant's ability to interpret auxin concentrations through gene transcription regulation. Recent evidence suggests that auxin signaling occurs both inside and outside the nucleus, and there is a coordinated action between these pathways to regulate specific auxin responses. The future direction of auxin biology lies in understanding the collaborative paradigm of intra- and extranuclear auxin signaling.

Advances of anthocyanin synthesis regulated by plant growth regulators in fruit trees

Lu Wang et al.

Summary: Fruit color, determined by anthocyanin accumulation, is an important indicator of fruit quality. Anthocyanin synthesis is regulated by both genetic factors and external factors such as light, temperature, and nutrient levels. Plant growth regulators also play a crucial role in regulating anthocyanin synthesis. This review article discusses the physiological and molecular mechanisms of anthocyanin synthesis regulated by plant growth regulators. It concludes that exogenous application of abscisic acid, jasmonate, and brassinosteroid can promote anthocyanin accumulation, while ethylene, auxin, cytokinin, and gibberellin have dual effects on anthocyanin synthesis.

The E3 ubiquitin ligases SINA1 and SINA2 integrate with the protein kinase CIPK20 to regulate the stability of RGL2a, a positive regulator of anthocyanin biosynthesis

Jian-Ping An et al.

Summary: This study reveals the regulatory role of an apple DELLA protein MdRGL2a in GA signal transduction and anthocyanin biosynthesis. MdRGL2a interacts with MdWRKY75 to enhance the transcription of anthocyanin activator MdMYB1 and interfere with the interaction between anthocyanin repressor MdMYB308 and MdbHLH3 or MdbHLH33, leading to anthocyanin accumulation. Furthermore, MdRGL2a is phosphorylated and protected by MdCIPK20, while MdRGL2a and MdCIPK20 are ubiquitinated and degraded by E3 ubiquitin ligases MdSINA1 and MdSINA2, respectively, which are activated by GA.

Auxin signaling: Research advances over the past 30 years

Zipeng Yu et al.

Summary: Auxin, one of the most widely studied phytohormones, has been a hot topic in plant biology. The advances in understanding auxin signaling, including perception, rapid responses, transcriptional and non-transcriptional branches, and epigenetic regulation, have been highlighted. Feedback inhibition mechanisms and non-canonical signaling have also been explored. Further identification of auxin signaling components and their regulation will deepen our understanding of how auxin signals regulate plant growth and development at the cellular level.

Co-regulation of Auxin and Cytokinin in Anthocyanin Accumulation During Natural Development of Purple Wheat Grains

Luhua Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the connection between endogenous auxins and cytokinins with anthocyanin accumulation during the natural development of purple wheat grains. It was found that auxin content increased significantly during seed development, while CKs decreased at 25 days post-anthesis. Moreover, the findings suggested that auxins and CKs played an antagonistic role in the accumulation of anthocyanins during purple grain development, with ROS signaling being involved in the regulation of anthocyanin accumulation.
