Structural basis of NPR1 in activating plant immunity

Shivesh Kumar et al.

Summary: NPR1 is a key regulator of the defence transcriptome induced by the plant immune signal salicylic acid. Structural analysis reveals the unique features of NPR1 and its interaction with salicylic acid, providing insights into its regulatory mechanisms. Moreover, the formation of the NPR1-TGA complex and its role in transcription activation shed light on how NPR1 reprograms the defence transcriptome.

NO GAMETOPHORES 2 Is a Novel Regulator of the 2D to 3D Growth Transition in the Moss Physcomitrella patens

Laura A. Moody et al.

Summary: The colonization of land by plants was a transformative event in Earth's history, enabled by the evolution of three-dimensional growth. In Physcomitrella patens, a filamentous phase precedes the transition to 3D growth, involving the gene PpNOG2. This gene is involved in the ascorbic acid pathway and may play a role in regulating gametophore initial cell frequency.

Selective Action Mechanism of Fenclorim on Rice and Echinochloa crusgalli Is Associated with the Inducibility of Detoxifying Enzyme Activities and Antioxidative Defense

Lifeng Hu et al.

Summary: The study found that Fen can protect rice from injury caused by Pre, but does not have a protective effect on barnyard grass. Furthermore, Fen can reduce oxidative damage in rice while leaving barnyard grass unaffected. Through transcriptome analysis and enzyme activity detection, it was shown that Fen induces more genes related to herbicide metabolism in rice, indicating that the mechanism of selective action of Fen may involve the elevation of detoxifying enzyme activities and antioxidative defense.
