Does propolis have any effect on rheumatoid arthritis? A review study

Elyas Nattagh-Eshtivani et al.

Summary: This study reviewed the possible effects of propolis on inflammation, oxidative stress, and lipid profile in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The evidence suggests that supplementation with propolis may have therapeutic effects on RA patients by inhibiting inflammatory cascades and reducing oxidative stress. Further research with larger sample sizes and different doses of propolis is needed to confirm these effects.

The Cardiovascular Therapeutic Potential of Propolis-A Comprehensive Review

Henrique Silva et al.

Summary: Propolis, a natural component made up of honeybee compounds, has been shown to have a variety of medicinal properties attributed to its chemical complexity. Despite little coverage, propolis has positive effects on cardiovascular health. Brazilian green and red varieties of propolis have the highest number of beneficial activities among the studied varieties.

The effect of propolis supplementation on inflammatory factors and oxidative status in women with rheumatoid arthritis: Design and research protocol of a double-blind, randomized controlled

Elyas Nattagh-Eshtivani et al.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the effects of propolis on inflammatory biomarkers and oxidative stress status in RA patients through a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial involving 48 RA patients. The study will measure oxidative stress status, inflammatory biomarkers, lipid profile, physical activity, anthropometric indices, clinical and nutritional status and primary analysis will be based on the intention-to-treat principle. If successful, this trial could provide evidence for the efficacy of propolis supplementation in RA patients.
