Catmint (Nepeta nuda L.) Phylogenetics and Metabolic Responses in Variable Growth Conditions

Detelina Petrova et al.

Summary: This study characterized the taxonomic position of Nepeta nuda using DNA barcoding and explored its metabolic adjustment and immune activities under different environments. The results showed that wild-grown and in vitro cultivated plants had different phenolic compound contents and immune activities. The antimicrobial potential remained consistent regardless of growth conditions. Analysis of the plant extracts identified 63 compounds, including phenolic acids, flavonoids, and iridoids. Cultivation under different light conditions affected the content of bioactive compounds. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the regulation of N. nuda productivity and its potential biotechnological applications.

Volatile Compounds of Nepeta nuda L. from Rtanj Mountain (Serbia)

Milica Acimovic et al.

Summary: Unlike previous studies, this research investigated the effect of weather conditions on the chemical composition of Nepeta nuda L. essential oil. The results showed that temperature had a positive impact on the accumulation of the most abundant component, while precipitation and insolation had a negative impact. Based on the cluster analysis, there are four chemotypes of N. nuda essential oil. This study provides valuable insights into the composition and biological activity of N. nuda essential oil.
