Promotive effects of endophytic rhizobacteria on tiller and root growth in creeping bentgrass during drought stress and post-stress recovery involving regulation of hormone and sugar metabolism

William Errickson et al.

Summary: Stress-induced accumulation of ethylene exacerbates drought damages in plants and suppressing stress induction of ethylene may promote plant tolerance to drought stress. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of endophytic bacteria (Paraburkholderia aspalathi) with 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase enzymes in suppressing ethylene production on plant tolerance to drought stress and post-stress recovery. Inoculation with WSF23 bacteria resulted in improved tiller production, root viability, and growth during drought stress or rewatering, as well as changes in hormone levels and sugar accumulation in the plant.

Folic acid as a protective agent in snap bean plants under water deficit conditions

M. F. M. Ibrahim et al.

Summary: The study revealed that folic acid has a promoting effect on the growth and yield of snap beans under drought stress, especially under deficit irrigation. Deficit irrigation significantly reduced plant growth and leaf water content, but increased the levels of certain antioxidant enzymes and osmolytes. Foliar application of folic acid significantly improved water use efficiency and enhanced plant growth and yield.

Metabolomics and Molecular Approaches Reveal Drought Stress Tolerance in Plants

Manoj Kumar et al.

Summary: Metabolic regulation plays a crucial role in helping plants maintain cell osmotic potential under drought stress. Understanding plant drought tolerance is essential for ensuring food security under harsh climatic conditions. Plant metabolites and metabolic genes are key factors in drought tolerance, offering potential strategies to improve plant survival in drought conditions.

Response Mechanism of Plants to Drought Stress

Xinyi Yang et al.

Summary: With global climate anomalies and the destruction of ecological balance, water scarcity has become a serious ecological problem, making drought a key constraint in agricultural development. This study examines the effects of drought stress on plant morphology and physiology, signal transduction pathways, and genes related to drought stress, providing valuable background knowledge for future agricultural and forestry breeding.
