Long-term stability prediction of polyacrylamide-type polymers at harsh conditions via thermogravimetric analysis

Xuan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study aims to develop a facile way for long-term stability prediction of polyacrylamide-type polymers at high temperature and high salinity reservoir conditions using thermogravimetric analysis technology. The pyrolysis behaviors and long-term stability in solution of nine polyacrylamide-type polymers were investigated. The activation energies of the polymers were correlated with half-life from viscosity measurements to estimate stability, and the decomposition rates of polymer molecular weight were found to have good correlations with half-lives and activation energies, indicating that molecular weight reduction results in solution viscosity loss.

Study on preparation and plugging effect of sawdust gel particle in fractured reservoir

Wanli Kang et al.

Summary: A preformed sawdust gel particle (S-PPG) with superior performance than conventional preformed particle gel (PPG) was presented, and its microscopic morphology, swelling property, viscoelasticity, etc. were studied. The results showed that S-PPG had better performance and could be used as an alternative plugging material.

A review on mechanism and adaptive materials of temporary plugging agent for chemical diverting fracturing

Hongtao Zhou et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the correct use of temporary plugging agents in chemical diverting fracturing technology. It divides the action mechanism of the temporary plugging agent into four parts and finds that the composite plugging structure has the highest success rate in facing harsh reservoir development. Additionally, it explores the mechanisms of supercharging, diverting, and plugging removal, and introduces the development trend of temperature-controlled temporary plugging agent.

Summary: A molecular modified polyacrylamide with Gemini surfactant monomers (HA1) was evaluated as an alternative for offshore heavy oil recovery. HA1 demonstrated advanced functions such as aqueous-phase viscosifying ability, significant interfacial activity, and reduction of heavy oil viscosity. Coreflooding experiments confirmed the increased oil recovery efficiency achieved by HA1 through improved microscopic efficiency and dispersion of asphaltene aggregates.

Construction and degradation mechanism of polylactic acid-pH-responsive microgel composite system plugging system

Xiaoli Tang et al.

Summary: In this study, a completely degradable polylactic acid (PLA)-pH-responsive microgel composite temporary plugging system was constructed using pH-responsive microgel particles as flexible filler particles, based on the acidic properties of PLA degradation solution. The experimental results showed that the plugging rate of this system was higher than that of PLA particles, and the addition of pH-responsive microgel could accelerate the degradation of PLA.

Development of degradable pre-formed particle gel (DPPG) as temporary plugging agent for petroleum drilling and production

Dao-Yi Zhu et al.

Summary: A degradable pre-formed particle gel (DPPG) has been developed in this study, showing excellent performance as a temporary plugging agent in petroleum wells. It exhibits great static swelling effect, self-degradation performance, high-temperature resistance, and high-salinity resistance. The DPPG has a perfect plugging effect in porous media with minimal formation damage after degradation, making it a promising TPA in oil fields.
