Synthesis of hydrocarbon-vanadium thin films by a low energy plasma focus device

F. M. Aghamir et al.

Summary: The synthesis of hydrocarbon-vanadium thin films using a low energy plasma focus device is described. The films have an organometallic structure and are formed by the reaction of methane with vanadium trioxide and hydrogen vanadium bronze structures. The resulting molecular structure, C26H22O3V2, is found to be a semiconductor with a band gap energy in the range of 1.20-1.35 eV. The structure is not Raman active and its characteristics are investigated using crystalline, spectroscopy, and microscopy methods.

Sc doped WSe2 monolayer: a candidate for enhanced adsorption and detection of SF6 decomposition gases

Yan Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption behavior of three gases produced by the decomposition of SF6 on Sc-doped WSe2 monolayers using density functional theory. The results show that Sc-WSe2 exhibits better adsorption performance and stronger interaction with the target gases compared to intrinsic WSe2, indicating its potential for stable operation in complex environments. These findings are significant for the development of gas sensors based on atomically modified WSe2 for detecting SF6 decomposition gases.

Summary: TixSi1-xO2 thin films were deposited using low pressure PECVD with tunable properties obtained by varying precursor flow rates. Surface chemical composition was analyzed by XPS, showing increased surface roughness with higher Titanium content. Electrical properties investigation at nanoscale revealed that a small amount of Titanium can improve dielectric permittivity and charge transport behavior.

Summary: This paper investigates the emission of plasma in a low energy Plasma Focus Device, calculating the effects of voltage, working gas pressure, and parameters of the electron beam. It also successfully deposits CdS1-xMnx thin films on glass substrates and measures the electrical conductivity of the CdS and CdS doped with Mn. The dielectric constant of CdS doped with Mn reveals frequency-dependent conduction.

Influence of electrode geometry on X-ray emission, plasma inductance, voltage, and current derivative signals obtained from a plasma focus device

Jalaj Jain et al.

Summary: Plasma focus devices have been studied as pulsed radiation sources, with research showing that the shape of the anode strongly influences plasma dynamics and X-ray emission. This study used a hybrid plasma focus device to investigate the effects of different anode shapes, finding that changing the anode shape can switch the device between energies stored in the capacitor bank.

The same chemical state of carbon gives rise to two peaks in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

G. Greczynski et al.

Summary: Chemical state analysis in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) relies on assigning well-defined binding energy values to core level electrons originating from atoms in particular bonding configurations. Here, direct evidence is presented for the violation of this paradigm, as the C 1s peak due to C-C/C-H bonded atoms from adventitious carbon (AdC) layers splits into two distinctly different contributions. This finding exposes fundamental problems with the reliability of reported XPS data and suggests discontinuing the use of adventitious carbon in XPS.
