Pretty good state transfer in discrete-time quantum walks

Ada Chan et al.

Summary: We establish the theory for pretty good state transfer in discrete-time quantum walks, showing that it can be characterized by the spectrum of a certain Hermitian adjacency matrix. We construct several families of walks that exhibit this phenomenon using normalized adjacency matrices, cyclic covers, and the theory on linear relations between geodetic angles.

Perfect state transfer in Grover walks between states associated to vertices of a graph

Sho Kubota et al.

Summary: We investigate perfect state transfer in discrete-time quantum walk models. The study focuses on vertex type states associated with graph vertices. By using Chebyshev polynomials, we examine the perfect state transfer between vertex type states. We derive a necessary condition on the eigenvalues of a graph for perfect state transfer to occur between vertex type states. Additionally, we identify the complete multipartite graphs with the same partite set sizes that allow perfect state transfer between vertex type states, along with the corresponding time.

Quadratic Speedup for Spatial Search by Continuous-Time Quantum Walk

Simon Apers et al.

Summary: This study presents a new algorithm for continuous-time quantum walk search, which can find any number of marked nodes in any graph with a speed that is quadratically faster than classical random walks. The algorithm is simple and has wide applications, making it useful for solving optimization problems and preparing ground states of Hamiltonians.

Quantum walks on embeddings

Hanmeng Zhan

Summary: This study introduces a new type of discrete quantum walks called vertex-face walks, based on orientable embeddings. A spectral correspondence between the transition matrix U and the vertex-face incidence structure is established. The study explores the properties of vertex-face walks on the covers of a graph and investigates the nonclassical behavior of vertex-face walks.

Quantum walks on a programmable two-dimensional 62-qubit superconducting processor

Ming Gong et al.

Summary: The study designed and fabricated a high-fidelity two-dimensional superconducting qubit array, demonstrating single- and double-particle quantum walks, realizing a Mach-Zehnder interferometer, and observing interference fringes. This work represents a milestone in bringing larger-scale quantum applications closer to realization on noisy intermediate-scale quantum processors.

Quantum-walk-based state-transfer algorithms on the complete M-partite graph

S. Skoupy et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the coined quantum-walk search and state-transfer algorithms, showing that marked vertices can be found with high probability in large graphs and successful state transfer between different partitions. However, when the sender and receiver are in the same partition, the fidelity does not reach exactly 1, leading to the proposal of a state-transfer algorithm with an active switch to address this issue.
