Intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy to investigate hidden kinetics at hybrid perovskite-electrolyte interface

Priya Srivastava et al.

Summary: The study of ion migration in hybrid perovskites is crucial for understanding their unique properties, and the investigation of photo-induced ion migration is of great significance. Intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS) can provide clearer insights into ion dynamics compared to impedance spectroscopy. By combining IMPS with photoelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy (PEIS), we can better understand the ion migration and charge transfer processes at the perovskite-electrolyte and polymer-aqueous electrolyte interfaces.

Extracting in Situ Charge Carrier Diffusion Parameters in Perovskite Solar Cells with Light Modulated Techniques

Agustin Bou et al.

Summary: Frequency resolved methods are widely used to determine device properties of perovskite solar cells. Obtaining electronic parameters for diffusion and recombination by impedance spectroscopy has been elusive, but intensity modulated photocurrent spectroscopy displays a high frequency spiraling feature determined by diffusion-recombination constants. Analysis in the frequency domain effectively separates carrier diffusion at high frequency from ionic contact phenomena at low frequency, leading to a systematic determination of transport and recombination features in operando conditions.

Summary: Metal halide perovskite single crystals are attracting attention in energy research due to their impressive responses in optical sensing and photovoltaics. The transition from polycrystalline to monocrystalline morphology helps maintain and enhance material properties, but insufficient control over thickness and size during growth leads to differences between surface and bulk responses. Impedance spectroscopy is a powerful technique for understanding kinetics in polycrystalline perovskite materials, highlighting the importance of analyzing ionic migration, trap states, and recombination mechanisms for exploiting the full potential of MHPSCs.
