The Effect of Air Turbulence on Vortex Beams in Nonlinear Propagation

Di Zhu et al.

Summary: We analyzed the statistical regularities of vortex beams propagating through a lens or an axicon with different series of turbulent air phase screens. The simulation results showed that the distortion of the transverse intensity was sensitive to the location and structure constant of the turbulence screen. Additionally, we confirmed that a vortex beam with a large topological charge can suppress the influence of air turbulence. These findings are valuable for applications in the atmospheric air, particularly in optical communication and remote sensing.

Beam Wander Restrained by Nonlinearity of Femtosecond Laser Filament in Air

Jiewei Guo et al.

Summary: The study investigates the spatial distribution of femtosecond laser filaments under atmospheric turbulence and finds that the nonlinear effect can restrain beam wander. Turbulence intensity and location also have an impact on the filamentation process, which leads to a shortened filament length in a turbulent environment.
