A modified connectivity link addition strategy to improve the resilience of multiplex networks against attacks

Dongming Fan et al.

Summary: Current studies have shifted from the analysis of single-layer network to multi-layer network. However, the performance of multi-layer networks has been significantly influenced by inevitable disturbances; therefore, the resilience of such networks must be maintained. Previous studies on the resilience of multi-layer networks have mainly focused on interdependent networks rather than on multiplex networks, which means that the effectiveness of current methods to improve the resilience of multiplex networks remains limited. This study develops a two-layer multiplex network and describes failure propagation models by motifs in single-layer and multiplex networks, proposes an approach to evaluate the resilience of multiplex networks, and presents strategies for its improvement.

Sustainable optimal transport in multilayer networks

Abdullahi Adinoyi Ibrahim et al.

Summary: This research utilizes the optimal transport theory to design optimal paths for passengers in multilayer network infrastructures. By routing passengers along more carbon-efficient layers, such as railways, it significantly reduces carbon emissions and distributes traffic more evenly, alleviating the risk of congestion.

Epidemic Propagation With Positive and Negative Preventive Information in Multiplex Networks

Zhishuang Wang et al.

Summary: The study introduces a novel epidemic model based on two-layered multiplex networks, showing that the diffusion of positive and negative preventive information, as well as the topology of the physical contact network, significantly impact the epidemic threshold.
