A Review on Non-Newtonian Nanofluid Applications for Convection in Cavities under Magnetic Field

Fatih Selimefendigil et al.

Summary: This review discusses the applications of non-Newtonian nanofluids for convection in cavities under a magnetic field. Convection in cavities is of great significance in thermal energy systems, with various applications in different processes. The review provides information on nanofluids and non-Newtonian fluids, and focuses on the thermal conductivity/viscosity, as well as the magnetohydrodynamic effects of non-Newtonian nanofluids. Different applications of vented cavities using nanofluid and magnetic field are explored. The review points out the gaps in current literature and discusses future trends.

First-principles calculations to investigate structural, optoelectronics and thermoelectric properties of lead free Cs2GeSnX6 (X = Cl, Br)

Debidatta Behera et al.

Summary: In this study, the structural, elastic, electronic, optical, and thermoelectric properties of Cs2GeSnX6 (X = Cl, Br) double perovskite compounds were investigated using the FP-LAPW method based on density functional theory applied to WIEN2k. The stability of the compound was predicted by analyzing the tolerance factor, formation energy, and phonon dispersion. The electronic properties were determined using GGA and mBJ, with band gaps of 1.37 eV and 0.91 eV for Cs2GeSnX6 (X = Cl, Br) respectively. The compounds showed ductility based on the computed elastic constants, and their potential use in optoelectronic and photovoltaic devices was suggested by the evaluated refractive index and reflectivity. The transport properties, including Seebeck coefficient, power factor, and electrical conductivity, were calculated within a temperature range of 200 to 900 K, indicating the potential usage of Cs2GeSnX6 (X = Cl, Br) in thermoelectric applications.

Modelling for the variation of thermal conductivity of metallic nanoparticles

Ratan Lal Jaiswal et al.

Summary: This study proposes a simple model to explain the variation of thermal conductivity of nanoparticles with size at different shapes using the concept of cohesive energy model. It is found that the kapitza resistance plays a major role in predicting the thermal conductivity of nanoparticles, especially at their lower dimensions.

Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of the Thermophysical Properties of Cobalt Oxide (Co3O4) in Distilled Water (DW), Ethylene Glycol (EG), and DW-EG Mixture Nanofluids

Monther Alsboul et al.

Summary: The density, viscosity, and effective thermal conductivity of Co3O4 nanofluids in different base fluids were studied theoretically and experimentally. The results showed that the thermal conductivity of Co3O4 nanofluids increased with increasing temperature and volume concentrations, while the viscosity decreased with increasing temperature and increased with increasing volume fraction.

Jisha Annie Abraham et al.

Summary: Using the FP-LAPW technique as implemented in the Wien2k code, this paper investigates the structural, electronic, optical, and thermoelectric properties of lead-based double perovskite Pb2ScBiO6. Different exchange-correlation potentials are used to estimate the results, and a comparative analysis is presented. The compound exhibits promising optical properties in the infrared, visible, and ultraviolet regions, and shows p-type behavior in the studied temperature range. Additionally, the compound demonstrates a high thermoelectric performance that suggests its potential application in solar cells.
