2D morphometric analysis of Arabidopsis thaliana nuclei reveals characteristic profiles of different cell types and accessions

Penka Pavlova et al.

Summary: Functional changes in cells during developmental switches and responses to environmental cues are reflected in nuclear phenotypes, with different chromatin states. The study examined various nuclear parameters in relation to gene and transposon element distribution and found variations among cell types and Arabidopsis thaliana accessions. Different levels of chromatin compaction were observed, with guard cells showing the highest level and gene-rich regions within their chromocenters. Additionally, varying degrees of parameter correlations were found in different accessions, suggesting differences in phenotype robustness.

UVR8 interacts with de novo DNA methyltransferase and suppresses DNA methylation in Arabidopsis

Jianjun Jiang et al.

Summary: This study reveals that UVB acts through UVR8 to inhibit DRM2-mediated DNA methylation and transcriptional de-repression in Arabidopsis. Interestingly, DNA transposons with high DNA methylation are more sensitive to UVB irradiation.
