The predictive value of four serum biomarkers for major adverse events in patients with small abdominal aortic aneurysm

Jonathan Golledge et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the biomarkers that can independently predict major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with small abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), and found that C-reactive protein (CRP) can assist in classifying the risk of MACE.

Pan-immune-inflammation value is associated with poor prognosis in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis

Fengping Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, data from a large-sample PD database were analyzed retrospectively, and it was found that the baseline pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) was correlated with the prognosis of patients undergoing PD. As the PIV value increased, the risk of death due to all-causes, cardiovascular disease (CVD) and infection also significantly increased.

Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratios: associations with mortality in a haemodialysis cohort

Kaitlin J. Mayne et al.

Summary: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is associated with mortality in haemodialysis patients, while the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) has a weaker association. NLR is more strongly associated with cardiovascular death, while PLR is less associated with non-cardiovascular death. In the COVID-19 subpopulation, both NLR and PLR are associated with COVID-19-related death risk.

The mediation effects of metabolic and immune-inflammation factors on the depression-premature coronary heart disease association

Jing Lin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the association between depression and premature coronary heart disease (CHD). It found that depression was associated with an increased risk of premature CHD, and metabolic and inflammatory factors, particularly central obesity, may mediate this association.

Relationships between Easily Available Biomarkers and Non-Dipper Blood Pressure Pattern in Patients with Stable Coronary Artery Disease

Andrei Drugescu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate whether NLR, MLR, and PLR can predict a non-dipping pattern in hypertensive patients with stable CAD. The study included 80 patients with hypertension, and the results showed that MLR and PLR can serve as predictors for non-dipper pattern in patients with stable CAD.

Exploring the role of systemic immune-inflammation index and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in cardiovascular risk stratification for patients with hidradenitis suppurativa: A cross-sectional study

Manuel Sanchez-Diaz et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the role of hemogram indexes in cardiovascular risk stratification for patients with Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). The findings suggest that the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are associated with higher risk of hypertension, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome in HS patients. These indexes could be used as screening tools to identify high-risk patients.

Carotid Plaque Features and Inflammatory Biomarkers as Predictors of Restenosis and Mortality Following Carotid Endarterectomy

Raluca Niculescu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the predictive role of inflammatory biomarkers and plaque features in restenosis and mortality risk following carotid endarterectomy (CEA). The results showed that higher preoperative levels of inflammatory biomarkers were associated with an increased risk of restenosis and mortality at 12 months after CEA. Unstable plaques and myocardial infarction were independent predictors of all outcomes.

Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio Predicts Cerebral Edema and Clinical Worsening Early After Reperfusion Therapy in Stroke

Daniela Ferro et al.

Summary: The study revealed that increased systemic inflammation following reperfusion therapy is associated with a higher severity of cerebral edema in stroke patients, leading to hindered clinical recovery. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio was identified as the best predictive marker, providing early warning alerts for patients at risk of severe neurological complications.
