Predictors of interest in predictive testing for rheumatoid arthritis among first degree relatives of rheumatoid arthritis patients

Imogen Wells et al.

Summary: Understanding the interest of individuals at risk in predictive testing is crucial. This study found that first-degree relatives of RA patients showed a high interest in predictive testing. Their interest was associated with information-seeking preferences, positive attitudes about risk knowledge, and beliefs that predictive testing can increase empowerment over health.

Public perceptions of predictive testing for rheumatoid arthritis compared to breast cancer and early-onset Alzheimer's disease: a qualitative study

Juhi Singhal et al.

Summary: This study explores public perceptions of predictive testing for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in comparison to breast cancer (BC) and early-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD). The findings reveal that the public has different views on decision-making factors, consequences, and consumer needs in predictive testing. RA is perceived to be more treatable and have fewer negative psychological consequences compared to BC and AD. However, participants emphasize the importance of providing accurate information and appropriate support services to mitigate uncertainties.
