Enzyme-triggered deep tumor penetration of a dual-drug nanomedicine enables an enhanced cancer combination therapy

Lei Gu et al.

Summary: Emerging nanomedicines can eliminate cancer cells by promoting excessive intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. However, tumor heterogeneity and poor penetration of nanomedicines often result in varying levels of ROS production, where low levels of ROS can actually promote tumor cell growth, reducing the effectiveness of these nanomedicines. In this study, a novel amphiphilic and block polymer-dendron conjugate-derived nanomedicine (GFLG-DP/Lap NPs) was developed, incorporating a photosensitizer (Ppa) for ROS therapy and Lapatinib (Lap) for molecular targeted therapy. By combining ROS therapy with Lap, the synergistic effect effectively kills cancer cells, even in deep tumor regions.

GSH-sensitive polymeric prodrug: Synthesis and loading with photosensitizers as nanoscale chemo-photodynamic anti-cancer nanomedicine

Lei Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, a redox-responsive polymeric prodrug was synthesized by RAFT polymerization for precise delivery of combinational therapeutic agents. The prodrug exhibited a chemo-photodynamic therapeutic effect to kill breast cancer cells and showed a remarkable in vivo anticancer efficacy. The findings suggest that the redox-responsive polymeric prodrug has great potential as an anti-cancer agent for combinational therapy.

Depositing Characteristics of Landslide Dams and Advances in the Model Test for Seepage Failure

Xing Li et al.

Summary: Landslide dams are loose and unstable barrier dams that pose a threat to downstream communities in the event of seepage failure. The particle composition and depositing characteristics of the dam are important factors in evaluating seepage safety and conducting model tests. This study summarizes the depositing characteristics of landslide dams and advancements in model tests based on previous research, field investigations, and indoor model tests. The results indicate that the depositing characteristics of landslide dams are influenced by factors such as lithology, sliding path, and slope structure. The failure modes and processes of landslide dams vary based on depositing characteristics, particle size compositions, and hydraulic conditions. The research findings provide valuable references for experimental research on landslide dams.

A Fractal Entropy-Based Effective Particle Model Used to Deduce Hydraulic Conductivity of Granular Soils

Gang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a rigorous mathematical approach for predicting the hydraulic conductivity of granular soils based on particle size distribution. By combining entropy theory with effective diameter, the proposed model accurately captures the particle size information of soils and improves the accuracy of saturated hydraulic conductivity calculation.

Geometrical assessment of internal instability potential of granular soils based on grading entropy

Jahanzaib Israr et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new criterion for prompt assessment of internal stability of soils based on grading entropy theory, which extracts particle grading information through statistical analysis. A clear boundary between stable and unstable soils is visualized, and the performance is compared with existing criteria using a large experimental dataset.
