Thio(seleno)cyano-difluoroalkylation of Alkenes Using Visible-Light Photocatalysis

Ye Rin Choi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a mild and efficient three-component thio(seleno)cyano-difluoroalkylation of simple alkenes using an iridium(ruthenium) photocatalyst, which provides a direct and regioselective installation of both C-S(Se)CN and C-CF bonds.

Copper-Catalyzed Benzylic C-H Bond Thiocyanation: Enabling Late Stage Diversifications

Chao Jiang et al.

Summary: The rapid growth of using C-H bond as cross-coupling partners has been reshaping the landscape of organic synthesis. The efficient method for benzylic C-H bond thiocyanation via copper-catalyzed radical relay demonstrates broad substrate scope and exquisite selectivity, with easy conversion to other pharmaceutically important motifs. This highlights the broad utility of this method.

Copper-Catalyzed Three-Component Reactions of 2-Iodo-2,2-difluoroacetophenones, Alkynes, and Trimethylsilyl Cyanide

Pingjie Wu et al.

Summary: The Cu(I)-catalyzed three-component reaction provides a facile method for the synthesis of difluoroacyl-substituted nitriles, with broad substrate scope and excellent stereoselectivity, which are potential useful fluoroorganic intermediates for further transformation in drug discovery. Preliminary mechanistic investigation suggests a radical-mediated process is involved in this cyanodifluoroalkylation reaction.

Visible light-driven fluoroalkylthiocyanation of alkenes via electron donor-acceptor complexes

Zebiao Li et al.

Summary: A novel strategy was reported for the visible light-induced fluoroalkylthiocyanation of alkenes under photocatalyst-free conditions. Investigation indicated that the intriguing photochemical activity of electron donor-acceptor complexes involving perfluoroalkyl iodide reagents and K3PO4 might play a role in the reaction.
