Analysis of phosphorous content in cancer tissue by synchrotron micro-XRF

Synchrotron micro-X-ray fluorescence imaging of arsenic in frozen-hydrated sections of a root of Pteris vittata

Summary: Micro-X-ray fluorescence imaging was used for the first time to study the mechanism of arsenic uptake in frozen-hydrated sections of a Pteris vittata root. The distribution of arsenic was visualized, showing changes in uptake pathways and differing mobilities of arsenic and potassium in different parts of the root. These findings provide insights into the peculiar root-to-shoot transport of arsenic in P. vittata.
