Integral imaging reconstruction system based on the human eye viewing mechanism

Yue-jia-nan Gu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a light field reconstruction method based on the human eye viewing mechanism is proposed to suppress the cross-mixing of light rays between adjacent lenses in integral stereo imaging systems. By establishing a light field model for specified viewpoint and accurately calculating the distribution of the light source, an EIA generation algorithm for fixed viewpoint is realized. A non-overlapping EIA based on the human eye viewing mechanism is designed to fundamentally reduce the amount of crosstalk rays, improving the actual viewing clarity with the same reconstructed resolution. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective, with a SSIM value higher than 0.93 and an increased viewing angle range of 62 degrees.

Field-of-view enhanced integral imaging with dual prism arrays based on perspective-dependent pixel mapping

Hee-Min Choi et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a field-of-view-enhanced integral imaging system using a combination of micro-lens array (MLA) and dual-prism array (DPA). The system achieves an increased field of view through perspective-dependent pixel mapping and shows improved operational performance compared to conventional systems.

Time-multiplexed method for view density enhancement in integral imaging-based light field displays

Xuan Wang et al.

Summary: A new time-multiplexed method is proposed and demonstrated to enhance the view density of InI-based light field displays. By using a digitally switchable shutter array, the view density and elemental view numbers can be improved multiple times without sacrificing spatial resolution.

Tunable liquid crystal grating based holographic 3D display system with wide viewing angle and large size

Yi-Long Li et al.

Summary: Holographic 3D display is considered one of the most ideal display approaches, but current systems suffer from narrow viewing angle and small size. We propose a tunable liquid crystal grating-based holographic 3D display system with wide viewing angle and large size, breaking through the limitations of traditional systems.

High-resolution integral imaging display with precise light control unit and error compensation

Tian-Hao Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an integral imaging system with improved resolution by using precise light control and error compensation. The system reduces the voxel size through a precise light control unit and eliminates crosstalk of reconstructed 3D images through an error compensation method. Experimental results show that the prototype developed using this system has higher resolution and less crosstalk compared to conventional systems.

Interaction between sampled rays' defocusing and number on accommodative response in integral imaging near-eye light field displays

Zong Qin et al.

Summary: In an integral imaging near-eye light field display using a microlens array, the interaction between defocusing and number of sampled rays on accommodative response is studied. Analysis of retinal images reveals that when the RDP coincides with the CDP, the accommodative response matches the RDP, but when the RDP deviates from the CDP, defocusing is introduced causing the response to shift towards the CDP.
