Structural, morphological, optical, and thermal properties of electrospun PbS/PVP-PEO nanofibers

Deep Sharma et al.

Summary: This study presents the synthesis and characterization of PVP-PEO nanofibers loaded with PbS nanoparticles. SEM analysis demonstrated that smooth and homogeneous nanofibers could be obtained at 12% PVP-PEO (50:50 wt%) concentration. XRD and TEM analysis confirmed the formation of highly crystalline PbS nanoparticles in the PVP-PEO blend matrix. FTIR and TGA studies revealed the interaction between PbS nanoparticles and the polymer blend matrix. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance studies showed a blue shift in the reflectance onset compared to bulk PbS, and the optical bandgap ranged from 1.08 to 1.56 eV by varying the PbS concentration.

Summary: The study found that with the increase of selenium composition (x) in amorphous thin films, the decrease in band gap energy and Urbach energy led to opposite effects on nonlinear absorption.

Enhanced nonlinear absorption and optical limiting of transparent, electrospun graphite filled polymer composite nanofibers in near IR region

Yasemin Pepe et al.

Summary: PVP and PVP/GR composite nanofibers were produced and their optical properties were investigated. The results showed that increasing the concentration of GR filler enhanced the nonlinear absorption and optical limiting behavior of the materials. These GR-filled nanofibers exhibited desirable properties for optical limiting applications in the near IR wavelength region.

Morphology, defects and polymer concentration related nonlinear absorption and optical limiting properties of electrospun polyamide 6 nanofibers

Yasemin Pepe et al.

Summary: The effects of morphology, defects, and polymer concentration on the nonlinear absorption characteristics of electrospun PA 6 nanofibers were investigated. It was found that thinner and more uniform nanofibers exhibited higher nonlinear absorption, while thicker and more irregular nanofibers showed greater light scattering. The results suggest that PA 6 nanofibers have potential applications in optoelectronics and biomedicine.

Above bandgap one-photon excitation induced nonlinear absorption behavior of InTe

Bekir Asilcan Unlu et al.

Summary: In this study, the nonlinear absorption properties of amorphous InTe semiconductors were investigated. Thin films with different thicknesses were deposited using the vacuum evaporation method. It was found that the Urbach energies significantly increased for thicker and doped films, while the change in bandgap energies was small. The transmittance in open aperture Z-scan data was derived using a theoretical model, and the values of nonlinear absorption coefficient and saturation intensity threshold were obtained. The interplay between excited state absorption and saturable absorption was explained using an energy band diagram.

Enhancement of Nonlinear Absorption in Defect Controlled ZnO Polycrystalline Thin Films by Means of Co-Doping

Bekir Asilcan Unlu et al.

Summary: The structural, optical, and nonlinear optical absorption properties of ZnO polycrystalline thin films were investigated, showing different bandgap energy shifts depending on doping methods and significant reduction in grain size with co-doping. A theoretical model incorporating various absorption mechanisms was used to analyze transmission data, extracting saturation intensities and effective nonlinear absorption coefficients. ZnO:(Al, Co) was found to have the highest saturation intensity threshold and effective nonlinear absorption coefficient due to its smallest bandgap energy and highest Urbach energy.
