Use of Dielectric Metasurfaces to Generate Deep-Subwavelength Nondiffractive Bessel-Like Beams with Arbitrary Trajectories and Ultralarge Deflection

Jing Wen et al.

Summary: Dielectric metasurfaces are used to generate highly focused nondiffractive Bessel-like accelerating beams with predefined trajectories in a broad spectral range. Synthetic-phase metasurfaces are demonstrated to produce various accelerating Bessel-like beams and beam arrays with different predefined trajectories and characteristic parameters that are not achievable with conventional spatial light modulators.

Generation of an optical needle beam with a laser inscribed Pancharatnam-Berry phase element under imperfect conditions

Pavel Gotovski et al.

Summary: In this study, an optical element based on the space-domain Pancharatnam-Berry phase is proposed to generate a high-power optical needle with a smooth and constant on-axis intensity profile. The implementation involves modifying bulk transparent glass material to form nanogratings, ensuring stability even under imperfect conditions. Numerical and experimental investigations are conducted to analyze the effects of misalignments in the optical schema on the generation of the optical needle.

High-Order Vector Bessel-Gauss Beams for Laser Micromachining of Transparent Materials

Justas Baltrukonis et al.

Summary: The study presents a theoretical and experimental investigation into high-order vector Bessel-Gauss beams for transparent-material laser micromachining. Efficient and stable generation of high-quality power-vector Bessel-Gauss beams using geometric-phase optical elements was demonstrated, leading to the creation of three-dimensional tubular structures in glass and subsequent testing for etch selectivity.
