Investigation of the optical properties and clues to the emission mechanism in silver nanoparticle-coated silicon nanowires

Mehdi Rahmani et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of silver nanoparticle (Ag-NP) deposition on the optical properties of silicon nanowire (SiNW) layer. SiNW arrays were prepared by metal-assisted chemical etching, and Ag particles were inserted into the SiNWs by electroless deposition. Scanning electron microscopy and spectroscopy techniques were used to analyze the morphology and vibrational bands of the SiNWs/Ag composites, respectively. The results show that the PL intensity of SiNWs is significantly increased by the deposition of Ag nanoparticles, mainly due to localized surface plasmon resonance.

Synthesis and characterization of vanadium pentoxide nanospheres by pulsed laser deposition: Effect of laser ablated energy on photodetectors properties

Noha H. Harb et al.

Summary: This paper introduces vanadium pentoxide films grown under different laser pulse energy conditions and investigates their impact on structural, optical, morphology, and electric properties. The study finds that films deposited with 840 mJ pulse energy exhibit good crystallization and intense green light emission at around 545 nm. The electrical properties also improve with increasing laser pulse energy.

Fabrication and photoelectric properties of n-V2O5/p-GaAs heterojunction

Jincheng Mei et al.

Summary: The optoelectronic and structural properties of the n-V2O5/p-GaAs heterojunction were investigated, and it was found that the device performance is closely related to the annealing temperature and annealing time during the film preparation. The volt-ampere characteristic curves of the junction were thoroughly investigated under different temperature and illumination conditions. The responsivity of the n-V2O5/p-GaAs heterojunction was 0.00517 A/W at 1550 nm, with detectivity values of 1.15 x 10(7) Jones and 4.75 x 10(8) Jones at 0 and 3 V bias, respectively. These results are significant for the exploration and improvement of near-infrared optoelectronic devices based on V2O5.

Optical processes and apparent increase of optical band gap in Y2O3:Eu2+ nanoparticles synthesised by a gradually-heated solution combustion method

M. Dutta et al.

Summary: The optical absorption and emission features of Eu doped Y2O3 nanoparticles synthesized by a gradually-heated solution combustion method were investigated in this study. The samples exhibited an increase in crystallite size and optical band gap after doping with Eu. The primary emission band was composed of two overlapping components attributed to the transition from degenerate 5d -> 4f level of Eu2+ ion.

Two step synthesis of vanadium pentoxide thin films for optoelectronic applications

Amal George et al.

Summary: Vanadium pentoxide nanostructures have attracted great attention for their high stability and wide range of applications. In this study, V2O5 was prepared by solvothermal synthesis and thin films were deposited using the dip coating method. Characterization using XRD, SEM, and UV-Vis revealed the orthorhombic structure of the film and an increase in bandgap with increasing dipping. These studies provide valuable insights into the properties of vanadium pentoxide thin films.
