Micro-bending sensing based on single-mode fiber spliced multimode fiber Bragg grating structure

Xiaoyan Sun et al.

Summary: A simple fiber sensing structure composed of an ordinary single-mode fiber and a section of multimode fiber with a FBG was designed to achieve dual-parameter sensing of micro-bending and temperature. Experimental results showed that the structure is sensitive to both micro-bending and temperature, with sensitivities not interfering with each other. The temperature sensitivity is 13.4 pm/degrees C, and the maximum bending sensitivity is 23.03 dB/m(-1).

Quasi-Distributed Temperature and Strain Sensors Based on Series-Integrated Fiber Bragg Gratings

Huajian Zhong et al.

Summary: Two types of series-integrated fiber Bragg gratings (SI-FBGs), strong and weak SI-FBGs, were inscribed in a standard single-mode fiber (SMF) using femtosecond laser point-by-point technology. The grating pitch of each FBG and the distance between the FBGs can be flexibly controlled by adjusting the inscription parameters. The strong SI-FBGs were used to measure temperature distribution and the weak SI-FBGs were used to measure strain distribution, achieving high spatial resolution.

Joint-peaks demodulation method based on multireflection peaks of a few-mode fiber Bragg grating for reducing sensing error

Kun Yao et al.

Summary: The paper investigates a novel fiber grating sensor based on a few-mode fiber, and proposes a joint-peak demodulation method to improve measurement accuracy in temperature or strain sensing. By measuring the changes in wavelength and intensity of reflection peaks, temperature and strain can be effectively measured.
