Chromium oxide film for Q-switched and mode-locked pulse generation

Lu LI et al.

Summary: This study explores the nonlinear optical characteristics and applications of chromium oxide (Cr2O3) in ultrafast optics. A microfiber decorated with a Cr2O3 film is prepared and its nonlinear optical characteristics are examined. The results show that this device has a modulation depth of 12.52% and a saturation intensity of 0.0176 MW/cm2. Moreover, the Cr2O3-microfiber is successfully applied as a saturable absorber in an Er-doped fiber laser, generating stable Q-switching and mode-locking laser pulses.

Preparation of High Damage Threshold Device Based on Bi2Se3 Film and Its Application in Fiber Lasers

Xiaowei Xing et al.

Summary: The low damage threshold of saturable absorption devices is a challenge for the stable operation of passive mode-locked lasers. Various technologies have been developed to resist high-energy irradiation of ultrafast lasers, but they also increase the complexity of laser construction. This paper proposes a new research idea of optimizing optical transmittance to address the low-damage threshold problem.

Ternary Transition Metal Dichalcogenides for High Power Vector Dissipative Soliton Ultrafast Fiber Laser

Lu Li et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the application of NbxRe(1-x)S2 nanosheets in ultrafast photonics. By incorporating the NbxRe(1-x)S2-microfiber saturable absorber into a net positive dispersion Er-doped fiber laser cavity, stable dissipative soliton pulses were generated. The NbxRe(1-x)S2-based mode-locked fiber laser demonstrated superior comprehensive performance compared to previous works based on 2D materials-based saturable absorbers.

Silica covered stannic oxide nanoparticles-an easily prepared robust substrate for optical sensors

Yuan Chen et al.

Summary: This paper describes a facile method to prepare a photophysically inert sensor substrate. Stannic oxide encapsulated silica nanoparticles were synthesized using a one-pot reverse-phase emulsion methodology. The optical transparency of the nanoparticles in suspension makes them suitable for use as sensor modules in various fields including biology.

Multi-cation hybrid stannic oxide electron transport layer for high-efficiency perovskite solar cells

Beibei Zong et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that high-efficient perovskite solar cells with a multi-cation hybrid electron transport layer can significantly improve the power conversion efficiency of the device by enhancing transmission rate, electrical conductivity, electron mobility, and surface state. The use of this electron transport layer also improves interface contact with the perovskite film, enhances crystallinity, and increases open circuit voltage and fill factor of the cells.

Nonlinear photoresponse of high damage threshold titanium disulfide nanocrystals for Q-switched pulse generation

Xinxin Shang et al.

Summary: A passively Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser with two wavelengths was designed using a titanium disulfide saturable absorber. The ultra-fast modulator was fabricated using TiS2 and transferred onto a fiber ferrule. The experimental results showed that the laser had a long pulse duration, high output power, and adjustable repetition rate. The study suggested that TiS2 nanocrystals with high damage threshold had great potential for application in pulse fiber lasers.

Cu2Te-PVA as saturable absorber for generating Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser

Harith Ahmad et al.

Summary: A passively Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser using a Cu2Te-PVA thin film as saturable absorber was demonstrated, with tunable Q-switched pulses generated over a range of 44 nm from 1530 to 1574 nm. The output pulses had adjustable repetition rates and pulse energies, showing stable performance with a signal to noise ratio value of around 51 dB during continuous operation. This is the first demonstration of Q-switched pulses induced by a Cu2Te-PVA based SA in an EDFL.
