Erbium-doped fiber laser based on intermodal interference between single-mode fiber and suspended core fiber for strain and temperature sensing

Haochong Liu et al.

Summary: A strain and temperature sensing system based on an erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) is proposed and experimentally verified in this paper. The system utilizes an intermodal interference between a single-mode fiber and a suspended core fiber (SCF) as a frequency-selective device. The system demonstrates good linearity and high sensitivity to both strain and temperature changes.

Simultaneous measurement of vibration and temperature based on FBG and DBR fiber laser beat frequency digital sensing system

Yu Guo et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a digital sensing system that combines a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and distributed Bragg reflection (DBR) fiber laser sensor for vibration and temperature sensing. Through the use of both FBG and DBR sensors, low frequency vibration detection as low as 0.25 Hz is achieved, and dual parameter sensing of temperature and vibration can be achieved.

Temperature controllable optical switch for erbium-doped random fiber laser

Di Wu et al.

Summary: A novel erbium-doped random fiber laser optical switch with rapid response and simple structure is proposed in this study. By using a liquid crystal-filled photonic crystal fiber as the sensing unit, a high-extinction ratio laser switch is achieved. The optical switch has the advantages of low cost, high sensitivity, and strong anti-interference ability.

Erbium-doped fiber laser based on femtosecond laser inscribed FBG through fiber coating for strain sensing in liquid nitrogen environment

Haochong Liu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes and experimentally verifies a strain sensing system based on an erbium-doped fiber laser in a liquid nitrogen environment. By using a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) and a Sagnac loop as cavity mirrors, the system achieves measurement of strain in a liquid nitrogen environment. The experimental results show that the system has high linearity and sensitivity.

Narrow Linewidth Half-Open-Cavity Random Laser Assisted by a Three-Grating Ring Resonator for Strain Detection

Bing Lv et al.

Summary: A stabilized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser for strain detection, based on a three-grating ring (TGR) resonator and half-open-cavity structure, is proposed and experimentally investigated. The half-open-cavity structure provides double optical gain and improves the photon lifetime, while the TGR resonator suppresses undesired residual random lasing modes, improving the stability and frequency noise of the laser output. The experiment achieved a stable ultra-narrow linewidth and high dynamic strain measuring resolution.

Strain- and Temperature-Sensing Characteristics of Fiber Ring Laser Sensor With Cascaded Fabry-Perot Interferometer and FBG

Xianchao Yang et al.

Summary: The strain- and temperature-sensing characteristics of fiber ring laser (FRL) sensors are comprehensively studied, with the reflected sensing head made up of spheroidal Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) concatenated with fiber Bragg grating (FBG) inserted in the cavity of FRL. The sensor demonstrated comparable sensitivities for strain and temperature, with low detection limits and high Q factors, making it potentially great for application in long-distance sensing systems.
