Manakov solitons in unbiased photorefractive materials with both the pyroelectric effect and photovoltaic effect

Aavishkar Katti

Summary: We present the existence of Manakov solitons in unbiased photorefractive crystals with both the pyroelectric effect and the bulk photovoltaic effect, including bright-bright, dark-dark, and bright-dark realizations. The two incoherent beams should have the same wavelength and polarization, with total intensity much smaller than the effective dark irradiance. Analytical solutions for the soliton pair are obtained in all three cases. The width of the Manakov soliton pair and the corresponding existence curves are determined. The width depends on the magnitude of the transient pyroelectric field and the bulk photovoltaic field. The interplay between the photovoltaic effect and the pyroelectric effect in the self-trapping process is investigated. Results are illustrated using a lithium niobate crystal.

Two dimensional Airy beam soliton

Thomas Bouchet et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrate the formation of a two-dimensional Airy beam soliton in a photorefractive crystal. By varying the nonlinearity strength, we observe the coexistence between an Airy beam and the emerging soliton. The soliton's output profile follows the theoretical soliton existence curve and can be tailored by the nonlinearity strength, even without modifying the input Airy beam shape. This feature distinguishes the Airy soliton from the Gaussian beam generated photorefractive soliton.

Effect of Temperature on Incoherently Coupled Dark-Bright Soliton Pair in Photorefractive Crystals

Aavishkar Katti

Summary: This study investigates the impact of temperature variation on the self-trapping nonlinearity of an incoherently coupled dark-bright soliton pair in biased centrosymmetric photorefractive crystal. The results show that an increase in temperature leads to an expansion of the soliton width.

Photovoltaic spatial solitons and periodic waves in a photovoltaic crystal

Da-Sheng Mou et al.

Summary: A coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equation is used to describe the propagation of spatial-phase-modulated photovoltaic solitons and non-phase-modulated beams in a photovoltaic crystal. Through the use of Jacobian elliptic function solutions, the characteristics of these solitons in the long wave limit are determined by the Glass constants of the beams.
