Xiaolong You et al.

Summary: This paper presents a three-layer metasurface-based planar circular polarizer with strong and broadband chirality, overcoming the limitations of conventional non-planar designs and allowing for adjustable functionality and operating bandwidth. Experimental results show that this structure maintains a 15 dB extinction ratio and a transmission efficiency above 92.7% from 251 to 293 GHz. Furthermore, by adjusting the air gap spacings between the metallic layers, it can operate at nearby frequency ranges and is robust to deviations in the air gap spacings.

Isolation enhancement technique in a dual-band THz MIMO antenna with single radiator

Ravinder Singh et al.

Summary: A technique for enhancing isolation between ports in terahertz MIMO antenna is implemented by utilizing a rectangular metallic patch. The antenna is perturbed with elliptical and square slots to achieve isolation of 22.16/20.12 in the lower band and 18.65/18.24 in the upper band. The inclusion of a non-resonant graphene sheet improves the isolation to 34.66/35.12 in the lower band and 25.44/27.45 in the upper band. A circuit with two tank circuits is developed to validate the resonances obtained. The antenna provides peak gain of 6.87 dBi and 7.27 dBi at 4.93 and 5.43 THz, respectively, with an efficiency of over 88.7%.

An enhanced gain of frequency and polarization reconfigurable graphene antenna in terahertz regime

Khatereh Moradi et al.

Summary: This paper presents a patch antenna with a unique shape and feeding at terahertz frequency. By utilizing the properties of graphene, the shape of the patch can be changed to triangle, rectangle, circle, and slotted patches. By changing the shape of the patch, it is possible to simultaneously utilize the features of patches with different shapes in one antenna structure. In addition to the ability to change the resonance frequency and polarization, the antenna also has improved gain through the use of metasurface and proximity coupled feed.

Metamaterial loaded highly isolated tunable polarisation diversity MIMO antennas for THz applications

Priyanka Das et al.

Summary: This article investigates the designing of tunable laterally and orthogonally placed MIMO antennas with enhanced isolation for THz applications. The tunability is achieved through varying the chemical potential of trapezoidal graphene-based patches loaded over the metallic patch antennas. The study introduces cross-shaped stubs and trapezoidal graphene patches to improve isolation and reduce mutual coupling between the antennas. Reflective metamaterial walls or planar metallic parasitic strips are used to enhance isolation between orthogonally placed antennas. The proposed antennas achieved a maximum isolation of 38 dB, the highest among reported MIMO antenna designs.

Low-Profile Frequency Reconfigurable Graphene-Based Dipole Antennas Loaded with Wideband Metasurface for THz Applications

Arun Kumar Varshney et al.

Summary: This article comprehensively analyzes low-profile, frequency-reconfigurable graphene dipole antennas for THz applications. The antenna is composed of two graphene patches that form a bow-tie dipole and a wideband artificial magnetic conductor (AMC). Frequency tuning is achieved by changing the chemical potential of graphene. The designed AMC operates from 2 to 3.4 THz with a +/- 90 degrees reflection phase bandwidth of 50.39%. By utilizing the AMC surface, the antenna achieves a total profile of up to 0.09 lambda(0) at the 0 degrees operating frequency of 2.5 THz. Another approach using a hybrid surface combination of AMC and PEC is employed to enhance radiation performance by reducing unwanted current distribution. The proposed antennas exhibit stable and well-matched input impedance to the THz source.
