The role of graphene oxide and its reduced form in the in situ photocatalytic growth of silver nanoparticles on graphene-TiO2 nanocomposites

Aneta Kisielewska et al.

Summary: In this study, Ag nanoparticles were photoreduced onto graphene oxide or reduced graphene oxide-TiO2 nanocomposites. Characterization using SEM-EDS, XPS and Raman spectroscopy showed that AgNPs were distributed on the surface of TiO2 and on graphene oxide or reduced graphene oxide flakes. The research revealed significant differences in the size and distribution of AgNPs grown on TiO2 and on areas covered by graphene oxide or reduced graphene oxide.

Graphene oxide induced high dielectricity in CS/PMMA solid polymer electrolytes and the enhanced specific capacitance with Ag decorated MnCoFeO4 nanoparticles anchored graphene sheets in hybrid solid-state supercapacitors

Simantini Majumdar et al.

Summary: In this study, enhanced specific capacitance was achieved by using silver decorated manganese cobalt ferrite nanoparticles anchored onto graphene sheets as an electrode and graphene oxide grafted chitosan/polymethyl methacrylate as solid electrolytes in hybrid solid-state supercapacitors. The GO doped chitosan/polymethyl methacrylate electrolytes exhibited high ionic conductivity and dielectric constant at room temperature. The interaction between Li+ cation and the amide functional group was weakened remarkably on grafting the electrolytes with GO. The effective specific capacitance was significantly improved when using Ag decorated MnCoFeO4 nanoparticles anchored onto reduced graphene oxide electrode.

Graphene oxide enabled hole transport characteristics in iodide/tri-iodide for improved dye sensitized solar cell performance

Divya Krishnan et al.

Summary: The study found that adding 6 wt% graphene oxide (GO) into iodide-triiodide (I-/I-3(-)) electrolyte can significantly improve the performance of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), but performance is suppressed when the GO content exceeds 6 wt%. This is because an appropriate amount of GO can enhance hole transport, while an excessive amount of GO will reduce diffusivity.
