Water wave interactions with perforated elastic disks: Quadratic pressure discharge condition

Hui Liang et al.

Summary: A numerical model based on linear potential flow theory is developed to study the interaction between water waves and perforated elastic disks. The model is applied to investigate the effects of wave amplitude, flexural rigidity, edge conditions, and open-area ratio on the hydrodynamic responses.

Accurate and efficient hydrodynamic analysis of structures with sharp edges by the Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM): 2D studies

Ying Wang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM) for solving fluid-structure interaction problems involving sharp edges on structures, which introduces singular basis functions through the local construction of shape functions of the finite elements. Studies on a thin flat plate and a forced heaving rectangle show that XFEM has apparent advantages at sharp edges, achieving higher accuracy and efficiency compared to conventional finite element methods.

A BEM model for wave forces on structures with thin porous elements

Ed Mackay et al.

Summary: A boundary element method (BEM) model is presented to study wave forces on structures with solid and porous surfaces, including linear and quadratic pressure-velocity relations. The study proposes a solution method for motion response and wave forces simultaneously, and derives hydrodynamic identities and expressions for mean drift force for combined solid-porous bodies. The study shows that quadratic pressure drop leads to asymmetric hydrodynamic coefficients and modification of the Haskind relation.
