White enough, not white enough: racism and racialisation among poles in the UK

Summary: This paper discusses the issues of race, racialisation, and whiteness among Eastern European migrants living in Western Europe, with a focus on Polish migrants in the UK. It explores the experiences of racism faced by Polish migrants and their own involvement in excluding other racialised groups. The paper examines how these migrants navigate their peripheral whiteness in the broader racial hierarchies and sheds light on the racialising practices of Polish migrants as both racialised individuals and beneficiaries of their position as "paler migrants."

Immigration theory between assimilation and discrimination

Summary: This article aims to rethink the coexistence of assimilation theory and discrimination in immigration scholarship, and analyze their relationship. The study found that discrimination, unlike assimilation, is not specific to migration. The article distinguishes between three forms of discrimination faced by immigrants: civic discrimination, discrimination against migratory attributes, and ethnoracial discrimination. Using self-reported measures of discrimination from recent large-scale French data, the empirical section analyzes each of these three forms and their determinants. The results show evidence of each form of discrimination and reveal discrepancies with assimilation.

Nurse Migration in Australia, Germany, and the UK: A Rapid Evidence Assessment of Empirical Research Involving Migrant Nurses

Summary: There is a growing shortage of skilled nursing staff worldwide, and nurse migration has become a common strategy to address this issue. Germany, the UK, and Australia are examined as destination countries for nurse migrants in this article, and the contribution of nurse migrants to the data on which these arrangements are based is not clear. The study found that migrant nurses often face discrimination, language and communication competencies are important for them, and structured integration programs are highly valued by both migrant nurses and destination healthcare employers.
