Counselor self-efficacy, spiritual well-being and compassion satisfaction/fatigue among mental health professionals in Pakistan

Summary: The current study aimed to explore the relationship between counselor self-efficacy, spiritual well-being, and compassion satisfaction/fatigue. The results indicated a positive relationship between spiritual well-being and counselor self-efficacy, as well as a positive relationship between compassion satisfaction and counselor self-efficacy. Additionally, there were no significant differences in counselor self-efficacy, spiritual well-being, and compassion satisfaction/fatigue across demographic variables. The study has important implications for training mental health professionals.

Professional quality of life and perceptions of spirituality and spiritual care among nurses: Relationship and affecting factors

Summary: This study found a significant relationship between nurses' perception of spirituality and spiritual care and their professional quality of life, with factors such as monthly number of shifts, manner of work, and average weekly working hours affecting nurses' quality of life. Nurses experienced high levels of burnout and moderate levels of compassion fatigue, while spirituality/spiritual care and religiosity were rated low.

Professional quality of life and psychological resilience among psychiatric nurses

Summary: The study aimed to determine the relationship between professional quality of life and psychological resilience in psychiatric nurses in Turkey. Findings showed correlations between compassion satisfaction (CS) and burnout, CS and resilience, and in burnout and compassion fatigue (CF), suggesting actions to improve resilience, prevent burnout, and reduce CF should be implemented in practice.

Burnout and spirituality among nurses: A scoping review

Summary: This scoping review investigated the relationship between spirituality/religiousness and Burnout Syndrome in nurses, as well as examined the evidence for spiritual/religious interventions to alleviate their symptoms. The results showed that spirituality/religiousness is a common coping strategy used by nurses when dealing with stress and burnout, and most studies indicate a correlation between spiritual and religious beliefs and lower levels of burnout, exhaustion, and depersonalization.

Qualitative analysis of compassion fatigue and coping strategies among nurses

Summary: This study investigated the stressful factors, experiences, and coping strategies for compassion fatigue in nurses. The results show that the experiences of compassion fatigue among nurses in Central Europe may resemble those of nurses in other countries. This study is significant for developing early screening tools and interventions to alleviate compassion fatigue.

Professional quality of life, depression, and meaning in life among helping professionals: The moderating role of self-competence in death work

Summary: This study examined the moderating role of self-competence in death work, as well as the relationships between professional quality of life and personal well-being and self-competence in death work. The results showed that better professional quality of life was associated with higher personal well-being and self-competence. Furthermore, self-competence in death work was found to moderate the negative impact of lower compassion satisfaction on depression. These findings have important implications for the self-care of helping professionals in the field of death work.

The prevalence of compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue among nurses: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of 79 studies involving 28,509 nurses worldwide, revealing that levels of compassion satisfaction and compassion fatigue among nurses are moderate. Nurses from the Asian region and in ICUs suffer from severe compassion fatigue symptoms, and the prevalence of compassion fatigue has increased over time. These findings may provide hospital administrators with the theoretical basis for the management and treatment of compassion fatigue.
