The Effect of Wavelength Shifting Fibers on Cherenkov Glass Detectors for Gamma-Ray Measurements

Hattan Natto et al.

Summary: Cherenkov detectors are low-noise detectors with high time resolution, but they have low light yield. This study aims to improve the light output of Cherenkov detectors by introducing wavelength shifting (WLS) fibers inside the glass samples. WLS fibers can reduce the energy of Cherenkov photons and direct them towards the photon sensor, thereby improving light collection efficiency and photon sensor matching.
