Micro-PIXE and micro-IBIL characterization of lapis lazuli samples from Myanmar mines and implications for provenance study

Summary: The analysis of lapis lazuli from different sources has led to the development of a protocol for provenance determination. This protocol, based on non-invasive techniques (IBA), can also be used for precious ancient artefacts. This study has identified Myanmar as a new source of lapis lazuli and proposed new markers for distinguishing it from other sources.
