Hybrid PET/Compton-camera imaging: an imager for the next generation

Gabriela Llosa et al.

Summary: Compton cameras have advantages over gamma cameras in certain applications, especially for multitracer imaging and high-energy radiotracer imaging in radionuclide therapy. Although they cannot compete with PET and SPECT in conventional clinical settings, there are specific scenarios where they can be a beneficial alternative. Combining PET and Compton imaging can improve resolution and sensitivity while overcoming limitations of PET in using multiple radiotracers. Advances are being made in both instrumentation development and image reconstruction to address the challenges of combining these two modalities.

Feasibility study of imaging with tissue-scattered triple-γ coincidence events in Compton-PET

S. Ghosh et al.

Summary: This study aims to utilize tissue-scattered data for Compton-PET imaging, proposing a novel method to obtain direct images of source activity distribution. While image quality needs improvement, separate evaluation of activity data may enhance image interpretation for medical diagnosis.
