New results from HAYSTAC's phase II operation with a squeezed state receiver

M. J. Jewell et al.

Summary: In this study, the HAYSTAC experiment's squeezed state receiver was used to search for dark matter axions with masses > 10 mu eV/c2. The experiment included upgrades to improve data acquisition efficiency and increased sensitivity for a faster and more effective search. However, no statistically significant evidence of an axion signal was found in the range 18.44-18.71 mu eV/c2, leading to an aggregate upper limit exclusion at the 90% level on the axion-photon coupling of 2.06 x gKSVZ f.

Limits on Axions and Axionlike Particles within the Axion Window Using a Spin-Based Amplifier

Yuanhong Wang et al.

Summary: Searches for axion and axionlike particles can provide insights into some of the most profound mysteries of the universe, including dark matter and dark energy. The spin-based amplifier technique is used to constrain the existence of these hypothetical particles and measure the upper limit of coupling constants by searching for an exotic dipole-dipole interaction between spins.

Mapping of the magnetic field to correct systematic effects in a neutron electric dipole moment experiment

C. Abel et al.

Summary: Experiments measuring the electric dipole moment of the neutron require precise control of magnetic-field uniformity. The nEDM experiment at the Paul Scherrer Institute uses a co-magnetometer to monitor magnetic-field variations, but it introduces the largest systematic error. Offline measurements were performed to evaluate and correct this effect, leading to an improvement in the neutron electric dipole moment measurement.

A search for neutron to mirror-neutron oscillations using the nEDM apparatus at PSI

C. Abel et al.

Summary: Researchers proposed the existence of mirror copies of standard model particles, and experiments have provided evidence to support this hypothesis. By studying neutron to mirror-neutron oscillations, they have imposed constraints on theoretical parameters and detected anomalous signals, potentially indicating the existence of oscillations between neutrons and mirror-neutrons.

Search for Invisible Axion Dark Matter in the 3.3-4.2 μeV Mass Range

C. Bartram et al.

Summary: Our experiment reported results from a haloscope search for axion dark matter, excluding the axion-photon coupling predicted by a benchmark model. The sensitivity was achieved through the use of a large-volume cavity, a superconducting magnet, an ultra low noise Josephson parametric amplifier, and subKelvin temperatures. The validity of the detection procedure was ensured by injecting and detecting blind synthetic axion signals.

Invisible axion search methods

Pierre Sikivie

Summary: The axion was proposed to solve the strong CP problem and provides a solution to the dark matter problem as well. Various methods have been proposed to search for dark matter axions and axions emitted by the Sun, leading to significant constraints on the notion of an invisible axion.

Search for Axionlike Dark Matter Using Solid-State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

Deniz Aybas et al.

Summary: Experimental search for ultralight axionlike dark matter in the mass range 162-166 neV is conducted using Cosmic Axion Spin Precession Experiment based on precision measurement of nuclear magnetic resonance, setting upper bounds for certain couplings in the frequency range. The study demonstrates the feasibility of using solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance to search for axionlike dark matter in the neV mass range.

Experimental Constraint on Axionlike Particles over Seven Orders of Magnitude in Mass

Tanya S. Roussy et al.

Summary: The study used electric dipole moment (EDM) measurement data to constrain the possibility of the HfF+ EDM oscillating in time due to interactions with candidate dark matter axionlike particles (ALPs). The results showed no evidence of oscillation over a certain frequency range, leading to constraints on the ALP-gluon coupling. This is the first laboratory constraint on the ALP-gluon coupling in a specific mass range, properly accounting for the stochastic nature of the ALP field.

Johnson-Nyquist noise effects in neutron electric-dipole-moment experiments

N. J. Ayres et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of Johnson-Nyquist noise (JNN) originating from metal electrodes on measurement sensitivity, using surface- and volume-averaged root-mean-square normal noise amplitudes. It is shown that the performance of optically pumped Cs-133 magnetometers and Hg-199 comagnetometers in the new n2EDM apparatus is not limited by JNN, and that the impact of JNN is negligible in nEDM searches down to a sensitivity of 4 x 10(-28)e cm when using a comagnetometer system.
