Characterization of two-photon interference between a weak coherent state and a heralded single photon state

Aojie Xu et al.

Summary: We experimentally investigated two-photon interference between a weak coherent state and a heralded single-photon state generated from spontaneous parametric down conversion. Our model considered the unequal spectrum linewidth and average photon number ratio within a given time interval. We obtained excellent agreement between our experimental data and model prediction. Furthermore, isolating coincidence events from the weak coherent state extended the range of high visibility two-photon interference. These results have potential implications for quantum information technology that requires two-photon interference with independent sources.

Measuring higher-order photon correlations of faint quantum light: A short review

K. Laiho et al.

Summary: Normalized correlation functions are useful for determining the photon-number properties of light and can be utilized for state classification and characterization. Measurement of normalized higher-order moments is often loss-independent, making it experimentally appealing with lossy optical setups and imperfect detectors.

Spectrally multiplexed indistinguishable single-photon generation at telecom-band

Hao Yu et al.

Summary: The article introduces a 1.5 μm chip-scale single-photon source based on lithium niobate on insulator. By employing spectral multiplexing and active feed-forward spectral manipulating, the performance of the single-photon source is significantly improved. Experimental results show that spectral multiplexing can increase the heralded single-photon rate and maintain a low g((2))(0) value, and the spectral multiplexing and feed-forward control effectively eliminate the frequency correlation of photon pairs.

Flat-optics generation of broadband photon pairs with tunable polarization entanglement

Vitaliy Sultanov et al.

Summary: This research explores the implementation of polarization entanglement in quantum optics using the concept of flat optics. By utilizing the relaxed phase matching of flat nonlinear optical sources, the researchers were able to generate photon pairs with tunable polarization entanglement. The resulting polarization entanglement, combined with a broadband frequency spectrum, led to an ultranarrow Hong-Ou-Mandel effect and potential extensions to hyper-entanglement.

Extending the Hong-Ou-Mandel effect: The power of nonclassicality

Paul M. Alsing et al.

Summary: The parity of a nonclassical state of light has a dominant influence on the interference effects at a balanced beam splitter. Odd photon-number input Fock states can generate destructive interference effects, which are extensions of the Hong-Ou-Mandel effect.

Bright multiplexed source of indistinguishable single photons with tunable GHz-bandwidth at room temperature

O. Davidson et al.

Summary: An efficient generation method of narrowband single photons compatible with rubidium D2 line is realized, using spatially-multiplexed heralded source based on four-wave mixing in hot rubidium vapor. The generated single photons exhibit high rate, low noise, and indistinguishability, with a five-fold tunability in temporal width demonstrated. The experimental results are well supported by a theoretical model.
