Constructing Equity Investment Strategies Using Analyst Reports and Regime Switching Models

Rei Taguchi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the usefulness of analysts' sentiments towards individual stocks for stock investment strategies. By using natural language processing to create a polarity index from textual information in analyst reports, time series forecasting and clustering were performed to construct an investment strategy that outperforms the benchmark portfolio in terms of returns.

Forecasting Stock Price Trends by Analyzing Economic Reports With Analyst Profiles

Masahiro Suzuki et al.

Summary: This article proposes a method to forecast analysts' estimated net income and stock price movements using analyst profiles, natural language processing, and neural networks. The study finds that analyst profiles effectively improve the model forecasts, while classifying analyst reports into opinion and non-opinion sentences is insignificant for the forecasts.

Portfolio optimization with return prediction using deep learning and machine learning

Yilin Ma et al.

Summary: Integrating return prediction of traditional time series models in portfolio formation can improve the performance of original portfolio optimization model. Since machine learning and deep learning models have shown overwhelming superiority than time series models, this paper combines return prediction in portfolio formation with two machine learning models, i.e., random forest (RF) and three deep learning models, i.e., LSTM neural network, deep multilayer perceptron (DMLP) and convolutional neural network. Experiment results indicate that RF model performs the best in return prediction, recommending investors to utilize this model for daily trading investment.
