Monika Benson et al.

Summary: This study developed a cervical dystonia patient journey map (CDPJM) that describes the patient experience from pre-diagnosis to long-term treatment. The results showed that patients often go through multiple visits to different specialists and experience misdiagnosis and lack of understanding of treatment options. Botulinum toxin was identified as the main treatment option, but patients also sought complementary approaches. This journey map can guide healthcare providers in improving their services.

Transitional Care for Young People with Neurological Disorders: A Scoping Review with A Focus on Patients with Movement Disorders

Eavan McGovern et al.

Summary: Childhood-onset movement disorders represent a heterogeneous group of conditions. The transition of care from pediatric to adult medicine is an important consideration, with key transitional issues identified being inadequate preparation, inappropriate practices, lack of adult services, and heightened emotional response surrounding transition. Multidisciplinary ambulatory care is a commonly used transitional care model, resulting in positive health, educational, and vocational outcomes. Further research is needed to evaluate the impact of transitional care programs and outcomes specific to patients with childhood onset movement disorders.
