Bias field correction in hyperpolarized 129Xe ventilation MRI using templates derived by RF-depolarization mapping

Junlan Lu et al.

Summary: In vivo Xe-129 ventilation MRI can be corrected for RF inhomogeneity using flip-angle mapping enabled by randomized 3D radial acquisitions. This correction technique can be extended to create flip angle templates applicable to different acquisition strategies. These methods of RF depolarization and template correction retain physiological results while removing undesirable heterogeneity caused by RF effects.

RF coil design for accurate parallel imaging on C-13 MRSI using Na-23 sensitivity profiles

Juan D. Sanchez-Heredia et al.

Summary: A coil-based method was developed to obtain accurate sensitivity profiles in C-13 MRI at 3T from endogenous Na-23. A flexible coil array was designed and optimized for C-13 imaging, and the SNR performance was evaluated and compared to reference coils. The results show that the developed method can successfully accelerate the acquisition of hyperpolarized C-13 imaging, with slightly better SNR compared to other state-of-the-art coils.

Assessment of higher-order singular value decomposition denoising methods on dynamic hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate MRI data from patients with glioma

Sana Vaziri et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the ability of higher-order singular value decomposition (HOSVD) denoising methods to enhance dynamic HP [1-C-13]pyruvate MRI data acquired from patients with glioma. The results showed that both denoising methods significantly improved the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of metabolites and regional signal coverage. This enhancement is important for voxel-wise analysis of HP-C-13 data and monitoring metabolic changes in glioma patients.

Summary: This study investigated the safety and tolerability of hyperpolarized carbon-13 (HP-C-13) metabolic imaging in pediatric patients with brain tumors, finding that HP [1-C-13]pyruvate was well tolerated with no dose-limiting toxicities or adverse events observed. Dynamic HP-C-13 MR imaging was safely performed in 6 pediatric patients with CNS tumors, demonstrating HP [1-C-13]pyruvate brain metabolism.

Summary: The study investigated the use of patch-based higher-order singular value decomposition (HOSVD) method to denoise dynamic HP-C-13 MR imaging data, demonstrating significant improvement in image quality and quantification accuracy. The results suggest that this new approach has the potential to enhance sensitivity in metabolite dynamics quantification and improve image quality for future clinical research.
