Blockade of the orexin receptors in the ventral tegmental area could attenuate the stress-induced analgesia: A behavioral and molecular study

Kobra Askari et al.

Summary: Exposure to stressful stimuli induces physiological and behavioral responses, affects pain perception, and alters gene expression. This study investigated the modulatory role of the ventral tegmental area (VTA) orexinergic system and ERK signaling in stress-induced analgesia.

Modulatory role of intra-accumbal dopamine receptors in the restraint stress-induced antinociceptive responses

Elham Noursadeghi et al.

Summary: Stress affects neural pathways and pain perception through mesolimbic-cortical dopamine neurons. The nucleus accumbens, a key component of the pathway, modulates pain and is influenced by stress. This study investigates the role of intra-accumbal D1- and D2-like dopamine receptors in modulating pain-related behaviors during restraint stress.

The stress-induced antinociceptive responses to the persistent inflammatory pain involve the orexin receptors in the nucleus accumbens

Seyed Mohammadmisagh Moteshakereh et al.

Summary: Stress-induced analgesia (SIA) refers to the phenomenon where stress suppresses the sense of pain. This study aimed to investigate the role of orexin receptors in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) in the antinociceptive responses induced by forced swim stress (FSS). The results showed that microinjection of orexin receptor antagonists attenuated the FSS-induced antinociception in both phases of the formalin test, with the OX2 receptor antagonist being more potent.

Orexin receptors in the CA1 region of hippocampus modulate the stress-induced antinociceptive responses in an animal model of persistent inflammatory pain

Fatemeh Zareie et al.

Summary: Stress can suppress pain perception, a phenomenon known as stress-induced analgesia; orexinergic receptors in the CA1 region of the hippocampus are involved in stress-induced analgesia in the animal model of persistent inflammatory pain; the orexin-2 receptor plays a more prominent role in mediating the analgesic effect of stress.

Secretory carrier-associated membrane protein 2 (SCAMP2) regulates cell surface expression of T-type calcium channels

Leos Cmarko et al.

Summary: This study highlights the importance of SCAMP2 in the trafficking regulation of T-type Ca2+ channels. By interacting with Ca(v)3.2, SCAMP2 significantly reduces T-type current, and this effect is observed in different channel isoforms. Additionally, SCAMP2-induced downregulation of T-type conductance is caused by the lack of Ca(v)3.2 expression at the cell surface.

Nucleus accumbens dopamine receptors mediate the stress-induced analgesia in an animal model of acute pain

Elham Noursadeghi et al.

Summary: This study examined the role of dopamine receptors within the nucleus accumbens (NAc) in forced swim stress-induced analgesia. The results showed that inhibiting D1 and D2-like dopamine receptors attenuated the analgesic effects induced by forced swim stress. This suggests that the mesolimbic dopamine system may act as a potential endogenous pain control system. Understanding this endogenous pain inhibitory system could lead to the development of pharmacological and psychological approaches to treat pain.

The modulatory role of dopamine receptors within the hippocampal cornu ammonis area 1 in stress-induced analgesia in an animal model of persistent inflammatory pain

Ramin Abdi Dezfouli et al.

Summary: This study explores the role of dopamine receptors in the cornu ammonis area 1 (CA1) of the hippocampus in stress-induced analgesia. The results demonstrate that the dopamine receptor antagonists attenuate the analgesic effects induced by forced swim stress in both early and late phases of the formalin test. This study provides new insight into the role of dopamine receptors in persistent inflammatory pain.

Role of D1-and D2-like dopamine receptors within the dentate gyrus in antinociception induced by chemical stimulation of the lateral hypothalamus in an animal model of acute pain

Hossein Khaleghzadeh-Ahangar et al.

Summary: The study showed that dopamine receptors in the dentate gyrus play a crucial role in pain modulation induced by lateral hypothalamus stimulation, with D2-like receptors having a more prominent effect than D1-like receptors. The findings suggest a complex neural circuitry where antinociceptive effects are produced, in part, via dopamine receptors in the DG region.

Summary: This study found that D1 and D2-like dopamine receptors in the VTA mediate LH stimulation-induced antinociception, indicating that the neural pathway from the LH to the VTA plays an important role in modulating formalin-induced nociception in rats.

Modulatory role of the orexin system in stress-induced analgesia: Involvement of the ventral tegmental area

Kobra Askari et al.

Summary: The study explored the role of orexin receptor antagonists on stress-induced antinociceptive responses in an animal model of acute pain. Acute exposure to physical stress suppresses pain-related behaviors in the animal model of acute pain. Blockade of the OX1 and OX2 receptors in the VTA attenuates antinociceptive responses induced by FSS.
