Engineering of SnO2/TiO2 heterojunction compact interface with efficient charge transfer pathway for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Hongli Wang et al.

Summary: In this work, a compact and stable photocatalyst (SnO2/TiO2 heterostructure) with abundant oxygen vacancies was prepared. The heterojunction system provides active sites for catalytic reactions and promotes the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers. The hydrogen production rate of SnO2/TiO2 is significantly higher than that of TiO2 due to its good dynamical properties.

Understanding the doping mechanism of Sn in TiO2 nanorods toward efficient photoelectrochemical performance

Tran Nam Trung et al.

Summary: In this study, Sn-doped TiO2 nanorods were synthesized and the doping mechanism of Sn into TiO2 was investigated. The experimental results verified the successful doping of Sn into TiO2, and the theoretical calculations explained how Sn substitutes for Ti in the crystal lattice and enhances the photocatalytic performance. The improved PEC performance of Sn-doped TiO2 nanorods suggests their potential as photocatalyst materials for solar energy-driven applications.

Photocatalytic water splitting on BiVO4: Balanced charge-carrier consumption and selective redox reaction

Xiangjiu Guan et al.

Summary: The interrelationship between photocatalytic activity and surficial reaction sites on BiVO4 photocatalyst was investigated by controlling the ratio of reductive and oxidative sites. The results showed that BiVO4 with a medium ratio of reductive/oxidative sites exhibited superior photocatalytic water oxidation and further modification with appropriate cocatalysts achieved efficient overall water splitting. The excellent photocatalytic performance was attributed to balanced charge-carrier consumption.

Application of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy to Degradation and Aging Research of Lithium-Ion Batteries

Yong Yang et al.

Summary: An in-depth understanding of battery degradation and aging is crucial for the design of battery management systems and the safe use and optimization of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) in large-scale applications. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a powerful tool for battery aging research, providing insight into the changes of internal electrochemical processes and degradation mechanisms. This review critically evaluates impedance techniques for degradation and aging investigation of Li-ion batteries, summarizing the EIS variations at different aging conditions and discussing the principles, validation, and modeling methods of classical and dynamic EIS. Challenges and perspectives for further application of EIS in LIB aging research are also presented.
