Enhanced photo-Fenton degradation of Rhodamine B using iodine-doped iron tungstate nanocomposite under sunlight

M. Irfan et al.

Summary: In this study, iodine-doped iron tungstate was reported as an active photo-Fenton heterogeneous catalyst for wastewater treatment. The introduction of reductive non-metal species greatly enhanced the catalytic efficiency of FeWO4. The synthesized iodine-doped FeWO4 exhibited a 93.8% degradation rate of RhB under sunlight.

Elemental mercury removal by I--doped Bi2WO6 with remarkable visible-light-driven photocatalytic oxidation

Yili Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, iodine-doped Bi2WO6 composites were synthesized through a one-step hydrothermal method to evaluate their photocatalytic efficiency in gas-phase elemental mercury removal under visible-light irradiation. The results showed that 1.0 wt.% iodine-doped Bi2WO6 exhibited the optimal Hg-0 removal efficiency due to reduced potential energy in the conduction band, decreased recombination rate of electron-hole pairs, and accelerated charge transfer. The density functional theory calculations suggested that iodine doping occurred in the (WO4)(2-) layer, facilitating the adsorption of oxidized HgO on the surface of the doped Bi2WO6.
