Green and Efficient Al-Doped LaFeXAl1-XO3 Perovskite Oxide for Enhanced Phosphate Adsorption with Creation of Oxygen Vacancies

Mengmeng Li et al.

Summary: By optimizing aluminum doping, the specific surface area and defect content of LaFexAl1-xO3 perovskite oxide were significantly improved, resulting in enhanced phosphate removal performance. The generation of oxygen vacancies caused by aluminum doping was the main mechanism for reducing the bonding barrier and increasing the adsorption sites. This study provides an experimental basis for the development of a green and efficient perovskite material for phosphorus removal.

Limits of Solid Solution and Evolution of Crystal Morphology in (La1-XREX)FeO3 Perovskites by Low Temperature Hydrothermal Crystallization

Lu Jia et al.

Summary: In this study, the crystallization of a new series of A-site substituted lanthanum ferrite materials (La1-xREx)FeO3 was explored using hydrothermal method. The effect of elemental substitution on the morphological, structural, and magnetic properties of the materials was studied. It was found that homogeneous solid solutions are formed when La3+ and substituent ions have similar radii, while crystallization in separate phases is found when there is a large radius difference. A-site replacement induces an evolution in the crystallite shape, providing evidence for a phase-separation-driven evolution of morphology.

Neutron diffraction and DFT studies of oxygen defect and transport in higher-order Ruddlesden-Popper phase materials

Mudasir A. Yatoo et al.

Summary: A series of higher-order Ruddlesden-Popper phase materials were synthesized and investigated by neutron powder diffraction to understand the oxygen defect structure and propose possible pathways for oxygen transport. DFT calculations were performed to support the experimental analysis. The majority of the oxygen vacancies were confined to the perovskite layers with a preference for equatorial oxygen sites. Neutron diffraction measurements and DFT calculations showed a preference for vacancies at certain oxygen sites and a curved oxygen transport pathway around the NiO6 octahedra. The thermal expansion coefficient for all compositions was compatible with solid oxide fuel cell electrolyte materials.

Enhanced peroxymonosulfate activation by Cu-doped LaFeO3 with rich oxygen vacancies: Compound-specific mechanisms

Yongfang Rao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the degradation reaction mechanisms of organic pollutants by peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation processes using Cu-doped LaFeO3 samples as catalysts. The generated oxygen vacancies contribute to the enhanced catalytic activity of LaFe1-xCuxO3 samples. Detection of hydroxyl radicals, sulfate radicals, superoxide, and singlet oxygen in the LFCO-7.5/PMS system suggests compound-specific degradation mechanisms. Additionally, the study explores the degradation pathways of sulfadiazine (SDZ) and the evolution of its toxicity.

Summary: In this study, nanoparticles were synthesized by partially substituting lanthanum for rare earth elements, and their crystal structure, morphology, magnetic and optical properties were systematically investigated. The experimental results show that the magnetic properties of the samples were significantly enhanced through lanthanum-rare-earth substitution, particularly in terms of coercivity for Sm0.7La0.3FeO3 sample.

Fundamental material property trends in the La0.8-xNdxCa0.2FeO3-δ series: crystal structure and thermal expansion

Christian Berger et al.

Summary: Compounds in the series La0.8-xNdxCa0.2FeO3-delta (0.1 <= x <= 0.7) were synthesized via a sol-gel route. The materials were found to crystallize as single-phase orthorhombic perovskites for x values between 0 and 0.6, with Nd substitution impacting the unit cell volume and thermal expansion behavior. Additionally, the transition from orthorhombic to trigonal modification observed in La0.8Ca0.2FeO3-delta was suppressed in Nd-substituted compounds.

Mehrnoush Nakhaei et al.

Summary: Nanoparticles of ReFeO3 orthoferrites were successfully synthesized and their structural, magnetic, and electrical properties were thoroughly investigated. The study revealed that SmFeO3 shows a ferromagnetic trend, while the other compounds exhibit weak ferromagnetic behavior. The magnetic behaviors of the nanoparticles were discussed based on the magnetization of Re and Fe sublattices and a core-shell model.

Summary: The (Bi0.41La0.59)(Fe0.75Co0.25)O-3 films fabricated using pulsed DC sputtering technique demonstrated magnetization reversal by applied electric field, exhibiting hysteresis curves of both ferromagnetic and ferroelectric behavior. The analysis of electric and magnetic domain structures induced by applying a local electric field showed the potential for future high performance magnetic devices with low power consumption.
