Magnesio-lucchesiite from the Kowary vicinity, Karkonosze Mountains, SW Poland: the third occurrence worldwide

Mateusz P. P. Sek et al.

Summary: Two tourmaline samples from quartz veinlets in the Karkonosze Mountains, SW Poland, were analyzed using microprobe and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The core sample is composed of dravite-oxy-dravite, while the rim sample is composed of magnesio-lucchesiite. Both tourmalines have similar compositions and crystallized from B-bearing metamorphic fluids. The Budniki camp is the third documented occurrence of magnesio-lucchesiite worldwide.

Uvite, CaMg3(Al5Mg)(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3(OH), a new, but long-anticipated mineral species of the tourmaline supergroup from San Piero in Campo, Elba Island, Italy

Ferdinando Bosi et al.

Summary: Uvite is a new mineral belonging to the tourmaline supergroup, found in a narrow vein in Elba Island, Italy. It has a specific crystal structure and contains elements such as calcium, magnesium, aluminum, silicon, and boron. The formation of Uvite is related to the interaction between B-rich fluids and LCT pegmatites formed by magmatic processes.

Original Sn-rich tourmaline from the Land's End granite, SW England

Kristian Drivenes

Summary: Multiple generations and growth stages of tourmaline from a hydrothermal quartz-tourmaline rock in SW England were analyzed to understand the variation in tourmaline composition and specifically the distribution of Sn. The study demonstrated the suitability of quantitative X-ray mapping for identifying and quantifying minor elements.

Boron isotopic variations in tourmaline from metacarbonates and associated calc-silicate rocks from the Bohemian Massif: Constraints on boron recycling in the Variscan orogen

Lukas Krmicek et al.

Summary: Various metacarbonate and calc-silicate rocks in the Bohemian Massif of the Variscan orogen contain tourmaline in different paragenetic settings, each showing distinctive compositional features. The presence of tourmaline with different B-isotope compositions in specific units suggests regional variations and possible metamorphic processes within the studied areas.
