Palynological Study of Fossil Plants from Miocene Murree Formation of Pakistan: Clues to Investigate Palaeoclimate and Palaeoenvironment

Shabir Ahmad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the pollen of fossil plants from the Miocene period in Pakistan, revealing its high biodiversity. The analysis of 31 samples using microscopic techniques identified 48 pollen types from 12 families. However, the preservation of floral records was found to be suboptimal.

Foliar micromorphology of selected medicinal Lamiaceae taxa and their taxonomic implication using scanning electron microscopy

Wajid Zaman et al.

Summary: In this research, scanning electron microscopy was used to identify and study the morphological characteristics of 25 Lamiaceae species used in traditional medicine. The study found that the anatomical features of the leaf epidermis can be used for accurate identification of these species. Additionally, the study described the diverse microstructures of these plants, providing insights for further research and classification of traditional medicinal plants.

Palynological Study of Weed Flora from Potohar Plateau

Anwer Usma et al.

Summary: This study investigated the pollen morphology of 18 weed species using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and identified distinguishable microscopic features. The results showed diverse characteristics in pollen shape, diameter, exine thickness, and surface ornamentation. A taxonomic key was created based on these characteristics to differentiate weed plant species. The study provides important baseline information for distinguishing weed species.

Trichomes' Micromorphology and Their Evolution in Selected Species of Causonis (Vitaceae)

Gaurav Parmar et al.

Summary: This study provides insights into the diversity of trichomes morphology in selected species of the recently reinstated genus Causonis, which is important for taxonomy. The study reveals that Causonis has non-glandular and unbranched trichomes, which vary in morphology within different species and different parts of the same plant. The length of trichomes also shows significant variation between species. Principal component analysis is used for species delimitation.

Taxonomic implication of leaf epidermal anatomy of selected taxa of Scrophulariaceae from Pakistan

Fazal Ullah et al.

Summary: This study investigated leaf epidermis anatomical characteristics and taxonomic significance of four species from four different genera of the Scrophulariaceae family collected in northern Pakistan. By examining qualitative and quantitative foliar epidermal features, differences in stomata and trichomes were identified, leading to successful species delimitation and identification using principal component analysis and cluster analysis based on micromorphological characters. A taxonomic key based on foliar epidermal characters was provided for distinguishing and identifying the studied taxa.
