Hydrogen peroxide vapor decontamination of N95 respirators for reuse

Summary: The study evaluated the viricidal efficacy of Bioquell vaporized hydrogen peroxide on contaminated N95 respirators, finding that a single VHP cycle could completely eradicate bacteriophage. Respirators showed acceptable inhalation/exhalation resistance limits after 3 and 5 cycles of VHP, but filtration efficiency fell below 95% after 5 cycles.

Humidity-Responsive Photonic Crystals with pH and SO2 Gas Detection Ability Based on Cholesteric Liquid Crystalline Networks

Summary: Dynamic photonic crystals with tunable structural colors have been widely studied for applications in anti-counterfeiting devices, decoration, and detection. In this study, photonic crystals based on cholesteric liquid crystalline network (CLCN) were prepared to exhibit humidity- and SO2 gas-responsive behaviors. The humidity-responsive color changes of the CLCN film were due to the swelling/deswelling of the matrix under different humidity conditions. However, treatment with SO2 gas caused the film to lose its humidity responsiveness by converting the carboxylic salt to acid.

Redox responsive photonic crystals with broad wavelength shifts and their efficient detection of hydrogen peroxide and catalase

Summary: Polymeric photonic crystals containing ferrocene were successfully prepared and used for efficient visual detection of hydrogen peroxide and catalase. The variations in the morphology of ferrocene before and after redox resulted in volume shrinkage of the sensors and a significant blue shift in reflection. The sensors exhibited excellent performance in detecting hydrogen peroxide and catalase.
